About "Ace's Boys"
'A' Company, 5th Ranger Battalion

'A' Company, 5th Ranger Infantry Battalion is an independent organization founded in 2003 that is  dedicated to honoring the veterans of the greatest generation and to accurately portray and educate others about life in the 5th Ranger Infantry Battalion during their service from 1943 to 1945. Able Company is based in New York state and has members in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. Since the 2003 formation, 'A' Company has become a hallmark of New York re-enacting and is internationally recognized, having been invited to the world premier of "The Great Raid" in New York City as well as having setup camp, along with our brothers in the 29th Division, at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia. Most importantly, our unit is associated with the World War II Ranger Sons and Daughters and have met with several veterans as well as their families. We participate in living history displays, tactical situations, air shows, period training, parades, etc. Safety and authenticity are bywords of our Company! All uniforms and equipment, as well as unit history, have been documented by our unit over several years and are available to unit members!

What makes us unique from other organizations of this type is our devotion to the 5th Ranger Battalion and the sense of pride we get operating as a UNIT impression, not an individual one. We seek authenticity through uniformity and strict standards. It is our goal at each event, whether it be in camp, in barracks, or under a tree in the field with nothing but a shelter half above us, to live as closely and as correctly to how the 'A' Co. 5th Rangers lived in Europe in 1944 and 45. This is also a unit that trains. Each year we participate in NCO training sessions and each Squad Leader meets with his squad several times a year to drill and prepare for the upcoming season. At down time during events, we drill. Looking and acting the part are both necessary to what we do and what he hope to accomplish at each event. Ultimately it is our devotion to our veterans that makes us a tight knit bond of friends and historians. If you want the most out of your living history experience, and want to join a progressive, hardcore type unit, Able Company is your place to be!! We hope you enjoy this website and think about choosing our organization to hit the field with and to experience the 5th Ranger Battalion!

GOALS:

- To as accurately portray a soldier of the 5th Ranger Infantry Battalion of World War II as closely as possible. As a unit we only wear accurate period uniforms and gear and carry accurate World War II weaponry as personally described by the 5th Ranger veterans and applying to the 1944 Ranger Table of Organization and Equipment.

- To educate others about our nation's valuable history, especially World War II and that of the 5th Ranger Infantry. To teach and inspire others to serve their country.

- To educate ourselves on the principles of a World War II Infantryman, to understand, honor, and to act like a soldier during the 1940's would have. To mold ourselves into what a soldier of the time would have been.

- To have fun. We must all remember, this is a hobby, not a job. When the hobby loses its amusement, its value-less.

- Our Company Motto: To as safely and accurately portray a 5th Ranger as humanly possible. Therefore, safety is a major subject and it is obeyed at all times. If the unit's safety is threatened by a certain party, that party will be asked to leave.

- Most importantly, to honor our veterans. It is for their sacrifices, losses, and heroism that we live today. It is important that we honor every one of them, they are all heroes to our nation.
